A Rescue Poem
The Reason (to you from all your rescue dogs)
I would've died that day if not for you.
I would've given up on life if not for your kind eyes.
I would've used my teeth in fear if not for your gentle hands.
I would have left this life believing that all humans don't care
Believing there is no such thing as fur that isn't matted
skin that isn't flea bitten
good food and enough of it
beds to sleep on
someone to love me
to show me I deserve love just because I exist.
Your kind eyes, your loving smile, your gentle hands
Your big heart saved me...
You saved me from the terror of the pound,
Soothing away the memories of my old life.
You have taught me what it means to be loved.
I have seen you do the same for other dogs like me.
I have heard you ask yourself in times of despair
Why you do it
When there is no more money, no more room, no more homes
You open your heart a little bigger, stretch the money a little tighter
Make just a little more room...to save one more like me.
I tell you with the gratitude and love that shines in my eyes
In the best way I know how
Reminding you why you go on trying.
I am the reason
The dogs before me are the reason
As are the ones who come after.
Our lives would've been wasted, our love never given
We would die if not for you.

Special Stories
That have touched our Hearts
In the many different Groups I am on I have come to know so many wonderful groups and individuals who Rescue dogs who would have otherwise been put to sleep. The people who do this have hearts of gold and have given so much of themselves to help the otherwise abandoned and neglected babies. Or Babies who have been hurt by others who are unwilling to help nurse them back to health.
This is a new page we have started so you can see just what these wonderful people do.
We donate our beds to many of their worthwhile Auctions to help these babies....These donated beds in turn help these groups to raise funds to cover necessary life saving veterinarian costs.
If any of these babies pictures have touched you will you please donate to their organizations, most all are 501c3 Charities so your donation is tax deductible.
These groups can also use things you may have that your baby no longer uses.....they can always use bedding, blankets, dog food anything you use for your babies these babies need.....most helpful are transport items or even to help in a transport.

Another reason to Rescue.......
THE MEANING OF RESCUE
Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.
Hmm... Yes there it is, right on the top
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.
I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things -
And take me right back?
Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never repack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?

Sausha will never have to worry about this again...she is all unpacked!!!!
On Nov. 8, 2006, Sausha was surrendered by her owner to a County shelter because she was "sick." The shelter took x-rays and discovered a large bladder stone. A representative from Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue stepped in and took her to a foster home on Nov. 14th. On Nov. 16th she turned nine, but there was no party -- her surgery was performed five days later. Back in foster care, she recovered quickly and proved to be a very sweet and cooperative little patient. It had been nearly three years since our last Yorkie died and my husband and I were NOT looking for one. No, we were not looking, were not going to look, no way. Until I happened to see her picture on the YTNR website. When her foster mom asked if we would be interested in adopting Sausha, I said oh, no, I could never talk my husband into it! Well, maybe, if he saw her.... Sausha came to visit on Dec. 16th, walked into our house like she owned it and never looked back.
I received this card on Mother's Day: "Thank you for taking me into your house, heart and family. I love you very much. You are the best Yorkie mommy a Yorkie girl could want. Thanks for loving me and taking such good care of me. Licks & wags, Sausha." (A friend in Canada helped her with the card.)
She has made us both very happy.
Sausha has a happy forever home with Norm and Pat Johnson!!

THEY HAVE SO MUCH LOVE TO GIVE.....

This is Coopers Story........
The people responsible for doing this to Cooper live very close to him and have not stepped up to help pay for what they did.
Coopers family is a single Mom struggling to make ends meet......most of us are never prepared for anything like this but we do what we have to do....
Below is what happend the day Cooper was injured....
I came home to my family, and pets feeling thankful that I had their love and devotion. Then at 7:45 my baby: Yorkshire terrier, Cooper was hit by a car in a tiny quite community!!! He suffered blunt force to his head with no broken bones but had little motor control, and was unable to walk. The veterinarian stated that she has seen more and more of these head injuries slowly get better, so I had hope! The first emergency hospital tried to stabilize him and kept him over night on an IV, shots, and meds. The next day I found a hospital that could do all sorts of testing on Cooper so I transported him there. He was there for a two day stay, and still needing care he went back again. Cooper was now able to stand. He ate, so I lifted his bed outside and he watched me plant sunflowers! I placed him up in his cage on my couch watching animal planet. He has had visitors, a perky Maltese named Bling, a wise orange cat named, Bob, and his friend Rags a rough and tough Yorkie.......smile. My family believes that demonstrating commitment to our animals is utmost. These are the efforts we are doing to save his life. As Cooper gets better, and better I have received so much support from Yorkie lovers. We started to achieved progress Cooper moved his eyes, head, mouth, slowly walks on occasion, and can drink & eat with assistance (the night of the accident he could do none of these things). I and the veterinarian and many fans started to have hope of more motor control. Then all of a sudden Cooper had to undergo a surgery to remove his eye as it wasn’t healing as well. Cooper's steel blue and tan hair is slowly growing back, and he is showing he is trying very hard to walk and romp. His cute little black button nose leans against my arm as I wake in the morning. He gets excited lifting his front paws up and down (sometimes falling to the side) but still always trying. Cooper has become my extended arm. His skinny long legs sway back and forth as I bring him along for a ride held close to my hip. He prefers to be held all the time, and when he is not I have comfy beds scattered all over the house where he will sit loyally waiting for me. He is a bright and faithful companion to the end. He compensates my care for him everyday with assured dedication. He is my miracle with one eye, bending limbs, and bowed back. His affection lightens my load. He is suited for short strolls and long trips branched along my arm as he moves his little head to see all the geese, and furry friends along the way. You see Cooper is now perfect, as he always was. His spirit & body have healed and it is only the human spirit that remembers his hardships...he is in the moment! I think we are drawn to help unconditionally our babies because they are the natural beings we might be if we were always spontaneous. They compete for our adoration at our first encounter, making us love them unreserved, our willpower lost, and they do it with little effort. Being such wonderfully uncomplicated beings, they need us to do tend to the loss of sleep when things get rough, as they will be loyal in waiting for the healing to begin by sleeping in a comfy bed exclusive for them…. Smile………….

A note from Gizzy's mom: We searched online for six months for the perfect "special" dog. We looked at both blind dogs and mobility impaired dogs. The search stopped at Gizmo the Great! He is our dream dog, and we know we can make his life as spectacular as he can make ours! He is the most awesome guy with an indomitable spirit!
Bio:
Gizzy has the opportunity to really walk (rather than hobble and hop) and run for the first time in his 6.5 years. He was a fast learner -- what a smart guy! He has a brand new front wheel cart from Eddie's Wheels in Massachusetts . He had multiple custom measurements taken to be sure it is a PERFECT fit. He has chubby wheels so he can get over grass and packed beach sand and whatever else might come his way! And boy can he ever go! Look out world! The Gizz is where it IS! It's front-wheel drive, has a 1 dog-power engine, and is powered by 100% indomitable spirit! Be sure to toot your horn and wave when you go by! Aaaa-OO-gah! Lots of pictures to come!
